Inforce Light Glock - Years ago, it was rare to see someone outside of the military or law enforcement carrying a firearm. As lamps became more compact and cheaper, they became more common. More and more citizens are starting to add weapon lights to their concealed carry guns. Inforce has released a new product to make it easier.

Typically, adding a weapon light to your favorite compact pistol adds unwanted bulk and makes it easier to conceal. The lights add great length to the gun if not the thickness. Inforce solved this problem by taking one of the most popular concealed carry pistols, the Glock 19, and designing a tool light to fill the void under the dust cover.

The APLc weapon light is no longer than the slide of a Glock 19 and does not extend beyond the barrel of the gun. Adds a nearly harmless 200 lumens of pure white light to less than two ounces. In the appendix, the minimum weight is not visible when carried IWB (in your waist). If you wear a belt, you have no reason not to attach a light to your gun.

The main (and in fact the only) reason to have a light weapon is to be able to identify targets in a lethal force situation. As some of us are lumen hogs, 200 lumens is a lot of output for a flashlight. Many shooters have trouble finding targets far enough to be on the edge of the APLC range.

On a dark, foggy night, with carbonation, I need all the lumens. In a typical urban environment, 200 lumens APLc is acceptable considering the small package it contains.

The first APL had some problems with the quick release system. This was resolved in later generations. With APLc, Inforce takes a minimalist approach. The mounting system uses a classic cross-bolt design. The bolt goes through the body of the APLc and through the slot in the G19 dust cover. On the other side, it is attached to the metal nut that is held in the light body. Care must still be taken when tightening the cross screws so that threads are not pulled or the light body is cracked. This is a very simple and effective installation design.

The controls on the Inforce APLc set it apart from the competition. APLc is ambiguous and allows easy access to momentary or continuous light. Normally, shooting with two hands, it is easy to press the paddle switch with the thumb of the support hand. A quick tap and release turns the light on in steady mode. Another tap and release will turn it off. Holding down the paddle for more than a second and a half puts it into temporary mode. Releasing the paddle will turn it off. If the light is on, in standby mode, then pressing and releasing the paddle for more than 1/2 second will also turn it off. This is more complicated to type than to hold.

Where APLC leaves the competition is when you can use only one hand to wield the gun. In this case, it is important to be able to light the light with your hand and then quickly point the trigger. The APLc paddle is within reach of most index fingers. A quick tap while the gun is visible will turn the light on in continuous mode. The index finger will be free to operate the trigger. When it's time to move, another quick tap on the paddle and the lights go out. It's a very simple operation, you're dragging the kids and your brain is spinning in the middle of the night.

In purpose-built devices, form must take a back seat to performance. Appearance should be the last consideration. In this case, Infors will improve on the main APL aspect. The full size APL we are currently using on our SIG 1911 is a dull gray color. It doesn't look bad on the gun's flat gray/black finish, it just looks a little out of place on the solid black Glock polymer frame. For Glock oriented APLC. It only makes sense to use a matte black polymer for the inford. The color and texture compliment the Glock frame. The shape of the APLc flows into the lines of the Glock and makes it look like a good system rather than an attached accessory. Of course, Inforce went the extra mile to make the APLc paddles more relevant to the custom framework that has been the focus of much attention on Instagram.

Inforce Overall has done a great job of creating a light that compliments the Glock 19, which makes this gun so awesome for concealed carry. What's even more interesting is that Enforce offers this US factory lamp for $150 MSRP.

Although this light is designed for the Glock 19, it will fit on any Glock pistol with a Glock-spec rail (surprisingly, the G21 does not require the use of Picatinny). It will also fit on other pistols with a Glock type light rail. We haven't had a chance to test this on the H&K VP9 or the S&W M&P, but we'll report back when we get a chance to check the fit.

A big "thank you" for sending us the APLc weapon light for review. If you want to pick up an APLc for your rifle, you can buy it here at Midway USA. When I was choosing my first rifle light, I knew I needed something better than the airsoft grade lights my local shop carried. I don't want to break the bank either. With mostly positive reviews and reasonable pricing, I picked up APL from Inforce.

Inforce APL is a lightweight polymer body gun light. It uses discrete controls, a small footprint, and is powered by a single CR123 battery. My first APL, a second-generation model purchased in late 2014, featured a 200-lumen output. Prevents accidental activation by turning the light a quarter turn.

The biggest draw of Inforce APL is the ambiguity switch. Most other lights use a drum or lever that must be turned to activate. APL uses paddles that must be loaded; A quick tap creates continuous life, while a longer press gives instant life. The movement is very intuitive and allows for a smooth transition between left or right hand shooting.

Inforce Aplc Glock Pistol Light Review

My Gen 2 Inforce APL has been put through about 3,000 rounds of 9x19 fired through five different pistols (Ruger Security 9 and EAA Witness Polymer reviews) over three years. About 600 of these are +P rounds, mostly 124gr Speer Gold Dot. APL sees action in both USPSA and 3 Gun, as well as several training courses such as Valor Ridge Pistolcraft 1 and Mid West Tactical classes. Although it worked perfectly, at the end of 2017, its life was short.

The second generation of APL (and the current version of APLc) has a fatal flaw; Rails are made of polymer. As we removed the light to put it on another gun, I noticed a crack visible from both sides of the mount. Unfortunately I don't know exactly when these cracks started to form.

This is not the only problem with the Inforce APL Rail Mount. The APL mounts via a Picatinny rail mount and is held in place by a flat head screw. These screws have no way to prevent the user from over-inflating the light on the gun. This has the potential to cause reliability issues in polymer-framed guns, and has contributed to implant cracks.

Fortunately, Inforce offers a lifetime materials and labor warranty on their products, so contact them immediately to request a repair or replacement. A representative asked for the part number of the lamp and responded in less than 24 hours and sent a prepaid return label so I could send it to a Gen 2 lamp. In less than a week I had a brand new Gen 3 in my mailbox at no cost.

The third generation Inforce APL features various improvements. The body is tuned with good shape and quality finish. The edges are rounded, which gives it a more refined look. The paddles are slightly smaller, with a more aggressive texture, giving a more tactile click when activated. The biggest improvement is that the mount is now made of aluminum instead of polymer. The output increased from 200 lumens to 400.
